Engagement: Sunland Home Care & Medical
Sonoran's Role: Remote CFO & Controller/Bookkeeper
Situation
Sunland Home Care & Medical is a locally owned company based in Mesa, AZ that provides personalized in-home care and home-based medical care services to seniors. The company’s management had decided that they were lacking critical analysis and information that comes from having a CFO. The owners of the company wanted a more hands on approach in regards to their financial statements and the interpretation and analysis of their key performance indicators. Frustrations with their accounting/billing department also contributed to the initial inquiry made by the owners to Sonoran.
Role of Sonoran
Jared Westergard was hired as the company’s interim/remote CFO to (i) manage the accounting/finance department, (ii) provide management with accurate and timely reports, (iii) perform the day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities including the company’s billing, accounts payable and receivable, and monthly reconciliation of accounts. Essentially, Sonoran was tasked with providing professional advice from a CFO’s perspective and to perform the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions of the company.
Result
Jared has been engaged by the company for approximately 8 months. During this time, the company has successfully transitioned their books to QuickBooks Online, separated out the Home Care & Medical divisions into their own set of books, instituted process and procedures to perform timely bookkeeping and billing for the company’s clients.
